He deserved victory, yes. But the prize, the Grail, is not something anyone should receive. Waver was the only one to come out somewhat intact (except for Kirei, who deserved a punishment worse than anything I can imagine) from the war. The Grail broke everyone else, including some of the Servants.
It seems like this trailer should have used "The Battle is to the Strong". Such a better fit with Berserker, and SO EPIC.
If Kariya could temporarily take the madness enchantment off berserker, I would imagine they would have a very interesting conversation given their similar pasts.

Kiritsugu came out okay after all was said and done. It wasn't a "happy" ending for him, but hementions how at least he never lost anyone else again after the war and was happy with Shirou. Even if he never could see Ilya again, he at least had a purpose to keep on living, and a had living reminder that his efforts weren't entirely in vain and that he did manage to save someone, even in his deepest pit of despair.
But had he not found Shirou, it would have been a complete tragedy for him.
I haven't seen the last episode, but it sounds like they portrayed things slightly differently than in the light novels.

But because Kariya died when he had the chance to escape with Sakura, it wasn't really a chance. ^.^;; Poor guy ran out of time.
Maybe if there was a mage who cared about him, he/she could've pulled him out of the worm pit, expelled said creatures, than magic'd him into having at least a few years left. But no one except Sakura seemed to love Kariya, and even she got brainwashed out of it.
… Kariya needs more hugs and smiles. … And worm medicine.
Why do almost all of the characters liam O brien voices suffer horribly.

Saber also known as arthur needs a master with whose soul is a hero, Rider known as alexander the great needs a master who has something to prove , caster known as bluebeard needs a master with a demented mind for death, lancer lnown as diamute needs a master with a royal soul of chivalry, archer also known as gilgamesh needs the soul of one who can show greatness , assassin an unknown and finally berserker also known as lancelot who needs a master who carrys jealousy for a loved. out of all the characters he had the best reason to have the holy grail and i wish the outcome became something else…
